Concession Tickets

Following are the types of tickets suited for concession travellers on rail, bus and ferry services. Concession travellers must hold a valid pass or identification card to be eligible for concession travel.

CityRail Concession Fares
Sydney Buses Concession Tickets
Private Bus Operator Concession Fares
Sydney Ferries Concession Tickets.

Ideal usage: Frequent, economical off-peak travel.

Select a ticket type for a fare or description of any tickets indicated below or select another travel pattern.

Concession Types	Description
Trainees	CityRail Holders of an Australian Traineeship System Trainee ID Card are entitled to half fare travel for single and return tickets, 7 Day RailPass, Weekly TravelPass and FlexiPass on CityRail. Buses and Ferries Holders of an Australian Traineeship System Trainee ID Card are entitled to concession fares for single cash fare tickets, TravelTen tickets on Sydney Buses, and Weekly TravelPasses on Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries, T-way and Newcastle Buses and Ferries time based fares (excluding TimeTen). Concession is not available on premium bus and ferry services.
Apprentices	CityRail 1st, 2nd and 3rd year Apprentice Identification Card holders are entitled to half fare travel for single and return tickets, 7 Day Railpass, Weekly TravelPass and FlexiPass on CityRail. Buses and Ferries 1st, 2nd and 3rd year Apprentice Identification Card holders are entitled to concession fares for single cash fare tickets, TravelTen tickets on Sydney Buses, and Weekly TravelPasses on Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries, T-way and Newcastle Buses and Ferries time based fares (excluding TimeTen). Concession is not available on premium bus and ferry services.
Half fare entitlement	All Regular Services NSW Half Fare Entitlement Card holders are entitled to concession fares for single and return tickets on CityRail and private buses and for single cash fare tickets on Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries and T-way. Concession is also available on Newcastle Buses and Ferries time based fares. Concession is not available on premium bus and ferry services.
War widows & widowers	CityRail NSW and Victorian War Widow/er Card holders are entitled to use $2.50 Pension Excursion Tickets and concession fares for single and return tickets, 7 Day RailPasses, weekly TravelPasses and FlexiPasses on CityRail services. Buses and Ferries NSW and Victorian War Widow/er Card holders are entitled to use $2.50 Pensioner Excursion tickets plus concession fares for single cash fare tickets, TravelTen tickets on Sydney Buses, and Weekly TravelPasses on Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries and Newcastle Buses and Ferries time based fares. Concession is not available on premium bus and ferry services.
Vision Impaired Persons	All Regular Services Holders of a Vision Impaired Persons Pass are entitled to free travel on CityRail, Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries, Newcastle Buses and Ferries, T-way services. An attendant may also travel free if the pass is so endorsed.
Pensioners	CityRail NSW, ACT and Victorian pensioners with Centrelink pensioner concession cards are entitled to use $2.50 Pension Excursion Tickets and concession fares for single and return tickets, 7 day RailPasses, weekly, TravelPasses and FlexiPasses on CityRail services. Centrelink pensioner concession card holders from other states are entitled to use Pensioner Excursion Tickets. Buses and Ferries NSW, ACT and Victorian Pensioner Concession Card holders are entitled to use $2.50 Pensioner Excursion tickets plus concession fares for single tickets, TravelTen tickets on Sydney Buses, and Weekly TravelPasses on Sydney Buses, Sydney Ferries and Newcastle Buses and Ferries. Concession is not available on premium bus and ferry services. Family members listed on the back of the Pensioner Concession Card are not entitled to use the card to purchase concession tickets. Pensioner Concession Card holders from interstate are entitled to use a $2.50 Pensioner Excursion ticket.
Interstate Seniors	All Services Interstate Seniors card holders can obtain the same entitlements available to NSW card holders on NSW services: half fare on rail, local bus and ferry services excursion fares: $2.50 Pensioner Excursion Ticket (PET) in metropolitan and outer metropolitan areas on rail, bus and government ferry services $2.50 Country Pensioner Excursion fare on CountryLink services outside of the CityRail area, and $2.50 Regional Excursion Daily (RED) ticket on local bus services in rural and regional areas: Regional Excursion Daily (RED) ticket information Operator contact list for Regional Excursion Daily (RED) ticket
International Students	International student identification card holders are not generally eligible for concession fares. Application forms may be obtained from your place of study.
