PrePay simply means purchasing a MyZone ticket before boarding the bus. Customers are encouraged to PrePay every time they travel.

PrePay only buses do not sell cash fares on board. Customers must use a pre-purchased MyZone ticket to use these services, either one of the MyBus or the MyMulti tickets according to the distance of travel.

There are over 1,400 ticket resellers in the Sydney, including newsagents, 7-elevens and convenience stores. My Zone tickets are also available from Sydney Buses' TransitShops, CityRail train stations and Sydney Ferries wharves.

You can find your nearest MyZone ticket reseller here.

Benefits:

  • Quicker boarding times for bus travellers to increase the reliability of bus services.
  • Resellers can change large notes. Drivers only carriy limited change and cannot change large notes.
  • Shorter boarding times and less waiting at bus stops.
  • Saving money, as most of our PrePay tickets are discounted.

On average it takes three seconds to 'dip' a prepaid ticket into the validating machine on a bus as opposed to 11 seconds to pay in cash. Multiply that by 55 passengers per bus and time begins to mount and buses may become delayed. PrePay-Only speeds up passenger-boarding times and helps improve the on-time reliability of bus services.

There are many MyZone ticket outlets including ticket vending machines to make it easy to buy a PrePay bus ticket before boarding. These ticket outlets accept cash, credit card and / or EFTPOS.

Eighty Five percent of passengers who board Sydney Buses in the CBD have already discovered the convenience of PrePay.
